Can Healing Be Fun?

Going through it with grace

Let’s talk about deconditioning and healing.

I’ve been going through stuff in the past weeks. It’s been helpful, though not necessarily fun.

When I shared what’s been going on with a friend on WhatsApp this morning, I told her exactly that, “it’s been helpful, but not fun”.

Talking About Healing in Terms of Suffering

It’s interesting how we talk about healing and growth in terms of suffering. You’re getting better, which is a good thing, but at the same time you’re wallowing in the process. At least I did.

When you decondition, stuff will come up for most people.

That’s part of the parcel. Society and the people around you tell you to be one way, when you’ve got your own way.

Manifestors are very different from the norm, we’re unlike 91% of the other people. Naturally, most of us have stuff to disentangle.

We’ll inevitably engage with stuff that hurt in the past and things that continues to evoke pain today.

That’s not fun. So we resist, wallow, and complain.

It’s hard, we say.

Others have it much easier - I read that online a lot. Manifestors complaining about having the short end of the stick in comparison to the other types.

Generators have it so easy, all they have to do is respond, those posts and comments say…

A Reframe: Healing can be a Joyous Occasion

I’m offering you a reframe: As antifun as some of the stuff is that may be coming up for you in your deconditioning journey, let’s consider it a joyous journey.

You GET to heal.

You GET to become more of yourself.

You WILL be better.

There IS light at the end of the tunnel.

If we focus on the destination, it makes things easier than to highlight the challenges of the process ad nauseam.

I needed to remind myself of that today.

Tending to that old story of healing = misery only creates more baggage.

It may not be fun in the moment.

But if we can embrace it with grace, we’ll be so much better for it.
