Finding Purpose in Unexpected Places

The TAO of the car dealership

Many of us live lives somebody else decided for them. Human Design offers you a path to yourself and what you truly want. This newsletter is about how you get there.

Are you looking for your purpose? Are you wondering what it is you’re meant to do with your life?

There’s often a great sense of pressure tied into these conversations. I must find my purpose, without it I’m lost, and it’s got to be something big and meaningful.

That’s a fallacy that leads you away from your path.

When Your Human Design Type Feels Limiting

Adding Human Design into the equation – and especially in the beginning of the journey of discovering your HD – your type can often feel quite limiting.

I often see this in the Human Design reddit, for example, with people asking whether xyz career is right for them.

Any Type Can Do Anything - Insights From the Car Dealership

The truth is, any type can do and be anything. Though to reach satisfaction, peace, success, or surprise, you’ve got to do things your way.

Enter last week’s revelation. I was touring car dealerships with a family member who's looking for a new, faithful steed.

I had quite a few preconceptions about the car-buying process and the people selling them (you know the clichés - sleazy, not trustworthy, the whole lot). I was pleasantly surprised that none of them turned out to be true and we had a grand ol’ time.

Knowing Human Design and being good at sensing people’s type, it was lovely to detect Generator salespeople’s joy and sparkliness for the brand of car they were selling. It was genuine - and infectious! You could tell they loved their jobs and telling people about the awesome features of the cars they were selling. It was so refreshing! Generator/MG enthusiasm is so lovely!

We also met the Projector owner of a car dealership, whose approach was clearly different. He listened and asked a ton of questions, putting the Projector’s innate ability for guiding people into practice. It felt a little like being in car-getting-therapy; certainly, his way of making sure that his clients were satisfied.

One cannot go about things like the other. A Projector has a different way of selling cars than a Generator. Both can be financially successful in their own ways. The key here is that they intuitively found what works best for them.

Your Job: Move Into What Lights You Up

I always find these real life examples so helpful. They’re a testament to me that there is a way to find your own life on your own terms, in big and small ways.

It also reminded me that purpose can be found anywhere and in anything. Your inner authority will lead you to it. Feeling satisfaction in selling people cars or finding success in helping people find the right vehicle for their life are as valuable as the next thing.

What matters most is that people move into what lights them up. It makes such a difference for the world and everyone around them.

The not-self and people doing what they think they need to do to find success, admiration, and self-worth and make money are ruling the world. You can see it from how distorted and messy everything is right now. A real revolution is opting out of that and moving into what lights you up. To me, it’s the only way to a more harmonious way to live.

Have a lovely week,

Johanna
