Getting Into Your Own Way?

How you self-sabotage according to your HD type and how you can stop it!

Many of us live lives somebody else decided for them. Human Design offers you a path to yourself and what you truly want. This newsletter is about how you get there.

How good are you at getting in your own way?

Like most people, I can be masterful at it!

When You Undermine Your Trust in Yourself

Self-sabotage is a cute word for how we block our blessings and undermine our visions. Ultimately, when we go back on our own word to ourselves (and I count following our dreams as a part of that), it erodes trust in ourselves and our capacity for self-love.

Think of this: You want to do something, your authority is on board, and still, you don’t take the actions your inner guidance is whispering for you to pursue.

If this were happening to you in a relationship with another person, you’d never see that person as trustworthy. On the contrary! Yet, in our relationships with ourselves, it’s the norm for many people - myself included.

How Every HD Type Sabotages Themselves

Every type in Human Design has its very own path to self-sabotage. It’s a symptom of what HD calls the not-self: The version of us that runs the show based on feeling small, wanting to avoid hurt, and an unhealthy ego.

Hurray!

There’s a silver lining, though.

When you know your type’s path to self-sabotage, you can observe it in yourself and change it.

Looking at type, i.e. how you do things as a bitter Projector or frustrated Generator, can help you understand a baseline path to stop getting in your own way, though. Other factors in your chart like your authority and your energy centers can give you more clues on that, as well.

Manifestors:

You wait for things and people to come to you. That’s great, if you want to stew in your anger and never get any of your ideas out into the world.

Solve it & love yourself: You’re here to do. Your capacity for action is unique among all the other types. Use it in accordance with your authority and watch your life change!

Generators/MGs:

Your self-sabotage in a nutshell: “But, I gotta do something!” When you spin your wheels and initiate instead of waiting for life to come to you, you’re moving away from yourself. Initiating as a Generator/MG is self-sabotage.

Solve it & love yourself: You’re here to respond to things. Wait, as hard is it may be.

Projectors:

You’re here to be recognized for your unique abilities. You can - and should - make yourself visible to others with your expertise. When you initiate, though, people more often than not will resent you. Initiating vs. waiting to be recognized and invited make the difference between people receiving your words as unsolicited advice vs. wise guidance. Which do you want it to be?

Solve it & love yourself: You’re here to be invited. Wait for the right invitations, as challenging as it may be. Your insights are special, treat them like accordingly.

Reflectors:

With your unique, lunar authority, rushing things and being spontaneous is a wonderful strategy for getting in your own way. So is initiating things. 😉

Solve it & love yourself: Let life come to you in your own time and open yourself up to lovely surprises it brings you.
