Happy New Year?

What do I mean by that, when the new year is already 22 days old?!?

Human Design has a different calendar. In Human Design, the new year doesn’t start on January 1st, but when the sun goes into gate 41.

Last night, European time, that happened. We’re now - finally - in the new year.

Here is a chart of the current transit, where you can see the number 41.1 at the very top of the bar on the right. This is what I mean, when I say the sun has moved into gate 41.

If Your 2025 Has Been Slow So Far, It’s Because of This

We start the calendar year on January 1st. While the entire world is off to the races, making resolutions about how to make this new year the best yet, the background energy as per Human Design is a different one.

In Human Design, the beginning of January is still marked by going through old stuff and energy that revises and is grounding.

If your resolutions have been tricky to maintain or you feel like you’ve been losing steam with them, it’s most likely because of a mismatch of energy. Most resolutions die a quiet death in the second or third week of January - because the energy for them is just off.

*A note on resolutions, while we’re at it: They’re mind driven for most people à la: I suck, therefore I shall get fitter, slay at work, and become a sexy beast. Good resolutions, if you want to make them even, come from your authority as per Human Design. I stopped making resolutions, because I noticed for me they come from what I feel I should do, not what I truly care about. Emotional authority has its own timing.

What Gate 41 Means

Now, with the sun’s move into Gate 41, the year is off to its start. Have you noticed how things feel less sluggish now? How what’s been feeling restrictive has been melting off you?

It is time now to begin to dream about and plant seeds for what’s next.

Here’s a passage from the Line Companion - Hexagrams book in Human Design to give you an idea of where we’re at, energetically:

“The old Chinese image of the 41st hexagram [note: hexagrams are the source of the gates] was the gardener who would cut back the garden in the wintertime or fall to prepare it for the following season. By cutting it back, nothing was lost because all the potential of that plant, everything that that plant could possibly be, every twig, every leaf and every flower, was already there within it, contracted inside, held inside as a potential. So the 41st gate carries with it this enormous potential for any kind of experience.”
